Republicans Kill Roe v. Wade, Democrats Vow to Tweet Harder
The GOP's assault on women's rights lands a devastating blow, while feckless Democratic leaders see another fundraising opportunity.
POLITICO has obtained a draft Supreme Court opinion overturning Roe v. Wade:
The Supreme Court has voted to strike down the landmark Roe v. Wade decision, according to an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito circulated inside the court and obtained by POLITICO.
The draft opinion is a full-throated, unflinching repudiation of the 1973 decision which guaranteed federal constitutional protections of abortion rights and a subsequent 1992 decision – Planned Parenthood v. Casey – that largely maintained the right.



The end of Roe v. Wade come as no surprise to activists who have fought the GOP as it methodically crushes women’s reproductive rights across the country. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party, which controls the White House, Senate, and House, sees a fundraising opportunity.


As news of the Supreme Court ruling leaked, Americans were distracted by the Met Gala, a vulgar celebration of extreme wealth.


Republicans have played the long game on abortion, systematically dismantling women’s rights at the local and national level. The Democratic establishment, on the other hand, has been an abject failure on the issue.



It doesn’t help that early in his career, Joe Biden said the Supreme Court went “too far” on abortion rights in Roe. And as recently as 2017, Nancy Pelosi claimed abortion is “kind of fading as an issue” for Democrats. “It really is,” she emphasized.
And of course, Republicans aren’t done. With Democrats focused on protecting the status quo for the billionaire class, fascism’s march continues…
