Democrats Renew Title 42, Trump's Racist Border Policy
The Biden administration is continuing the abusive Trump-Miller strategy of expelling migrants under the guise of pandemic protection.
When leftists equate Democrats and Republicans, they do so because of policies like this:
After a recent internal review, the Biden administration decided to maintain a pandemic-era order put in place under former President Donald Trump that authorizes the rapid deportation of migrants from the U.S.-Mexico border, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) told CBS News Thursday.
Since March 2020, the Trump and Biden administrations have expelled migrants over 1.5 million times without affording them the opportunity to request U.S. asylum, citing a series of CDC orders that argue the expulsions are needed to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 in border processing facilities.
It is deeply immoral for the ruling elites to callously send workers, students, and teachers into the peak of the Omicron wave, while simultaneously using the virus as an excuse to deprive asylum seekers of their rights.
These monstrous ethical transgressions are a fundamental reason leftists believe in ending the entire two-party scam. Unlike those who are lulled by propaganda (like sending temporary payments to poor families and falsely claiming to have “cut poverty in half”) leftists are outraged at the Biden administration for perpetuating the GOP’s despicable policies.
As I’ve written previously: Democrats have funded ICE, an abusive and authoritarian agency, at Trump-era levels. They have reinstated Trump’s atrocious “Remain in Mexico” policy, at a judge’s orders, and chosen to expand it. In June 2021, Kamala Harris echoed Trump’s police state language, warning migrants: "Do not come. Do not come. The United States will continue to enforce our laws and secure our border."
In January 2022, the Biden administration argued before the Supreme Court in favor of indefinite detention for immigrants. The administration also backed out of a plan to compensate victims of Trump’s family separation (i.e. torture) policy: “Lawyers for the plaintiffs said the Justice Department did not give a clear reason for walking away from the negotiations and did not make an offer to the plaintiffs before doing so.”
Opposing racist policies under Republicans but not Democrats undermines any liberal claim to the moral high ground. Principles applied selectively are not principles at all.
